Emir García is one of Europe’s most renowned dancers. He is a trained Cuban dancer, dance teacher and choreographer specialising in ballet, folk dance and Afro-Cuban dance. For three years, he was a soloist with the Santiago de Cuba Ballet and later became the company’s artistic director. He specialises in salsa, son and rueda de casino.

This programme takes an in-depth look at the origins of Cuban dances. All classes are suitable for both women and men. All dances are taught as solo dances: you do not need a dance partner for any of the classes.

WORKSHOPS & DESCRIPTION
Reparto is a modern Cuban music and dance movement. The style is linked to Cuban reggaeton, but has its own rhythm and style. We’ll learn basic steps, body movements and a routine. No previous experience is required.
Guaguancó is a form of Cuban rumba. It is a playful dance. In this workshop, we will focus on the movements and body posture. No previous experience is required.
Columbia is an energetic form of Cuban rumba. It is known for the improvised dialogue between the dancer and the lead drum. Its elements can also enrich your Salsa Suelta.
Salsa Suelta is salsa without a dance partner. It combines dance sequences, musicality and personal style. Elements from son, rumba, Columbia and so on can be incorporated. We combine various techniques that we have learnt throughout the programme.
Son forms the foundation of salsa. It is renowned for its elegance and musicality. We work on elegance, stage presence and connection to the music. The steps and stylistic elements can be applied in salsa.

Intensive Beginners’ Salsa Course with Annette

Would you like to learn salsa from scratch or brush up on your skills? Then this intensive summer course is just the thing for you!

The course is suitable for beginners, as well as couples, friends and singles. Different topics will be covered on each of the two days, so you can also choose to attend just one of the two days.
